Cost & Ordering
 How much does it cost?
The cost of each meal varies, depending on the needs of each school. Sales tax is already included in the cost of each lunch (which is at 9.25%). This includes a healthy entrée, fresh produce, assorted snacks, dessert, and beverage of your child’s choice (a bottled water, low fat milk, or 100% fruit juice.).
How do we pay for lunch?
Payments options include: by regular check or through our online ordering system which accepts major credit/debit cards and electronic check. When paying by regular check, you will be asked to send in your payment by a certain date (indicated on the order form). All checks should be made out to LOS GATOS IMPROMPTU, INC.
 What is your refund policy?
We understand that children get sick and there are certain circumstances that can prevent your child from being at school. However once a lunch has been ordered and paid for, our supplies are ordered and paid for, and your child’s meal selection has been accounted for. Therefore, our policy is no cancellations or refunds after the order deadline. Your child’s lunch will be ready to go for any family member to pick up, or if you choose you can pick it up for them.
How do I order hot lunch for my child(ren)?
Ordering processes are customized for each school. You'll order either through a Family Envelope sent to your home, or through our new online ordering system. Check your school website to find out what ordering process is in effect for you.
Am I required to order lunch 5 days a week to participate?
No, parents have flexibility to order as few or as many lunches they would like to each week.

Food
How much food will my child get?
Children will get their choice of entrée. We have worked with a nutrition consultant to plan the size of each entrée offered so that each is appropriate for you child. In addition to you child’s choice of entrée your child will have a selection of fresh produce, and assorted snacks to choose from. Your child can take as much as he or she would like from these groups. Also, one dessert is handed out per child as well as one beverage.
 Do you serve vegetarian lunches?
YES! Every day there are multiple vegetarian options to choose from. Also if a non-vegetarian entrée can be served sans meat, we can do that as well if you opt.
Are drinks included in the cost of the meal?
YES! Your child will have the choice of bottled water, low fat milk, or 100% fruit juice.
Do you serve “hot” lunches as well as “cold” lunches?
YES! We do serve both “hot” and “cold” lunches. Our order form lists the selection of “hot” lunches on one side, and “cold” lunches on the other side. Your child can switch from “hot” to “cold” as they choose. A number of selections from our “hot” and “cold” menus are offered each and every day.
How often do entrée choices change?
Entrée choices change monthly to accommodate seasonal changes, as well as temperature changes. For example, Hot Soup is much more appealing on a cold winter afternoon than a hot summer one. We also want to make sure that the students have a variety of entrees to choose from.

How many “helpers” will be available while my child is walking through the lunch line?
At each school there will be a minimum of two “moms” on hand to help with all of your child’s needs in the food line. Whether your child forgot what they ordered, would like an “extra” serving, or just has questions, our friendly “moms” will be there to help whenever needed!
 How are the meals packaged?
Each entrée, snack, produce, and dessert is individually packaged for your child to ensure safe food handling and to facilitate a quick walk through the lunch line. We know that kids don’t like to be stuck in a food line during their lunch break.
How does the lunch line work?
Each lunch line is customized for each individual school to accommodate fast and easy distribution for the students and staff. Students will walk through the lunch line, first picking up their individually packaged entrée selection. This entree will also be set in larger container (i.e.: cardboard to-go box) to hold all of the side selections chosen. After picking up the entrée the students will progress through the lunch line where they can choose from a variety of individually packaged sides, which they will place in their “lunch box”. The children can choose as many veggie and fruit sides as they like, however the dessert will be kept to one per child. At the end of the line a selection of beverages will be available to choose from. A minimum of two “moms”, who will be able to assist with anything and everything, will monitor this whole process.
